bleh. This particular post might be a little short because I do not feel well, but hey, let’s take it as an opportunity to explore this topic, shall we?* (link these sections together)
Let’s face it; feeling sick sucks! Of course, it’s different for everyone and it changes depending on many factors, but it’s probably not fun for anyone. This post is about how I use my sick days to help with my work. Work never ends when you run a business, right?
The first of these is that, as an artist, I can take it as an opportunity to focus on coming up with new projects to excite myself with. I like to take my journal/notepad and just let my creativity fly. I might not be able to walk outside today, but what’s stopping me from using my mind?
Next, chores. Thinking is great and all, but doing mind numbing chores definitely helps me. I don’t have to think. Instead, I can just focus on the task at hand (both literally and figuratively). No energy to pick up the camera? Pick up the broom instead! No energy to grab your camera bag and take photos? That’s fine, do your laundry! Besides, living in a (semi) tidy space makes me feel just a bit better and just feels nicer.
Third, an excuse for chicken soup. Yum.
Lastly, napping. Who objects to napping and using it as an opportunity to catch up on rest? I’m not feeling well, so I’ve got to get better, right? Besides, some days, I just don’t have the energy to do… well… anything. Just got to relax and feel better right?
Yes, feeling sick does definitely suck, I won’t deny that; but why should it stop me from creating? Well, if you’ve read my post, I think you know my answer. I love being a photographer, and while I do need a break every once in awhile, I also don’t want to let the inconveniences of nature stop me in my tracks. Is it an opportunity to rest? Certainly. Does it mean I should stop myself entirely? I don’t think so. Perhaps it’s an opportunity to slow down, at the very least, and do things I enjoy.
Photography is something I enjoy. It doesn’t have to be work if I don’t want it to be!
What do you think? Message me and tell me yourself! 😁
